The Battle of Sarhu was a series of engagements in 1619 in which Nurhaci's Later Jin army defeated a Ming expedition sent in four columns to destroy his state. Concentrating his forces, Nurhaci beat the columns one by one in a few days. The victory confirmed Jurchen power in Manchuria and opened the way to the conquest of Liaodong.
