Battle of Toubacanti

1700 · 18th century

The Battle of Toubacanti was fought in February 1700 in Darién, present-day Panama, when Scottish colonists of the second Darien expedition under Captain Alexander Campbell of Fonab, with Guna allies, attacked a Spanish force and drove it back. The victory was short-lived: Spanish forces besieged Fort St Andrew, and the colonists capitulated at the end of March 1700.
