Battle of Yique

293 BCE · 3rd century BCE

The Battle of Yique was fought in 293 BCE near Luoyang, in present-day Henan, between the State of Qin and the allied armies of Han and Wei. The Qin general Bai Qi won a crushing victory; the Shiji claims 240,000 enemy dead. The battle broke the power of Han and Wei to resist Qin and opened the way for its further expansion in the central plain.
