Battle of Yehuling

1211 · 13th century · Also known as Battle of Badger Mouth · Part of the Mongol conquest of the Jin dynasty

The Battle of Yehuling, or Badger Mouth, was fought in 1211 at a mountain pass north-west of present-day Zhangjiakou in Hebei, China, during Genghis Khan's first invasion of the Jin dynasty. The Mongols destroyed a much larger Jin army, killing a great part of it and opening the way to the plains of northern China. It began more than twenty years of war that ended with the fall of the Jin in 1234.
