State of Qin

9th century–221 BCE · 9th century BCE · Also known as Qin (state)

The State of Qin was a Zhou-era state in the Wei River valley of western China. After the reforms of Shang Yang in the 4th century BCE it became the strongest military power of the Warring States, conquering Shu in 316 BCE and ending the Zhou royal line in 256 BCE. Between 230 and 221 BCE it destroyed the other six states and founded the Qin dynasty.
