Chengzhou
Chengzhou, also called Luoyi, was the eastern capital of the Western Zhou dynasty, built near present-day Luoyang in Henan under the direction of the Duke of Zhou after the suppression of the Rebellion of the Three Guards. It served as a base for controlling the former Shang lands and housed the Eight Armies. After the fall of the western capital in 771 BCE, King Ping moved the court there, beginning the Eastern Zhou.
