Bawbawgyi Pagoda

c. 5th–7th century · 5th century

The Bawbawgyi Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa at Sri Ksetra, the ancient Pyu city near Pyay in central Myanmar, built around the fifth to seventh centuries. A tall brick cylinder on circular terraces, about 46 metres high, it is one of the oldest standing stupas in Myanmar and an early model for later Burmese pagodas. It forms part of the Pyu Ancient Cities World Heritage Site.
