Pyu Ancient Cities
The Pyu Ancient Cities are three walled cities of the Pyu people in the Irrawaddy basin of Myanmar, Halin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra, inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2014. Flourishing from about 200 BCE to 900 CE, they contain brick walls, palaces, Buddhist stupas, burial grounds and water works. They show the early spread of Buddhism and urban life in the region before the rise of Bagan.
