Bay Street Boys
The Bay Street Boys were the white merchant elite of Nassau, named after the city's main commercial street, who dominated the politics and economy of the Bahamas in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Through the United Bahamian Party, led by Roland Symonette, they controlled the House of Assembly until Lynden Pindling's Progressive Liberal Party won majority rule in 1967.
