Bayajidda
Bayajidda is the legendary founder of the Hausa states in the traditions of northern Nigeria and Niger. The story tells that he came from Baghdad by way of Bornu, killed a snake that guarded a well at Daura, and married its queen, Daurama. Their son Bawo and his sons are said to have founded the seven Hausa Bakwai states, among them Kano, Katsina, Zazzau, Gobir and Rano.
