Benzoin resin

Also known as benzoin

Benzoin resin is an aromatic balsamic resin obtained from trees of the genus Styrax, used as incense, in perfume and in medicine. It was one of the forest products of the Sumatran interior, along with camphor and aromatic woods. These goods supplemented the commercial revenues of the Srivijaya Empire, which derived most of its wealth from controlling maritime trade.
