Besalú
Besalú is a medieval town in the Garrotxa district of Catalonia, Spain, on the Fluvià river. From the 9th century until 1111 it was the seat of the counts of Besalú, after which it passed to the counts of Barcelona. Its fortified Romanesque bridge, the monastery church of Sant Pere and a medieval Jewish ritual bath (mikveh) mark one of the best-preserved old towns in Catalonia.
