Beth-shemesh
Beth-shemesh is an ancient town in the Shephelah west of Jerusalem, excavated at Tel Beth Shemesh beside the modern Israeli city of the same name. In the Iron Age it lay on the border between Judah and the Philistine plain. According to the Bible, Jehoash of Israel defeated and captured Amaziah of Judah there in the early 8th century BCE.
