Bharmal

d. 1574 · 16th century · Also known as Raja Bharmal, Bihari Mal

Bharmal was the Kachhwaha Raja of Amber in Rajasthan from 1548 until his death in 1574. In 1562 he became one of the first Rajput rulers to submit to the Mughal emperor Akbar, and gave him his daughter in marriage; she became the mother of Jahangir. The alliance made the Kachhwahas leading Mughal nobles and laid the foundations of the later state of Jaipur.
