Bima people

Also known as Mbojo, Bimanese

The Bima people, who call themselves Mbojo, are an ethnic group of eastern Sumbawa in Indonesia, speaking the Bima language. Their homeland was the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom and later the Bima Sultanate, which accepted Islam in the early 17th century under the influence of the Gowa Sultanate of Makassar. Most are Muslims, and many live by farming and trade.
