Black September
Black September was the armed conflict of September 1970 in which the Jordanian army of King Hussein fought the Palestinian guerrilla groups of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which had built a state within a state in Jordan. A Syrian armoured incursion in support of the Palestinians was turned back. By July 1971 the fighters had been expelled, and the PLO moved its base to Lebanon.
