West Bank
The West Bank is the territory west of the Jordan River that was part of Mandatory Palestine. In the 1948 war Jordan's Arab Legion held it together with East Jerusalem, and Jordan annexed both in 1950; Israel occupied the territory in the war of 1967, and its status remains at the centre of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
