c. 852–c. 889 · 9th century · Also known as Bořivoj I

Bořivoj I is the first historically attested Duke of Bohemia of the Přemyslid dynasty. He was baptised around 870, traditionally by Saint Methodius at the court of Great Moravia, whose overlordship he accepted. He moved his seat to Prague Castle, where he built one of the first Christian churches in Bohemia. His grandson was Saint Wenceslas.
