Borjigin

The Borjigin were the Mongol clan to which Genghis Khan belonged. His ancestors, including Khabul Khan, led the Khamag Mongol confederation in the 12th century, and after the founding of the Mongol Empire descent from Genghis Khan's branch of the clan became the condition for holding the title of khan across the steppe. The Yuan emperors and many later Chinggisid khans of Central Asia were Borjigin.
