Brač
Brač is a Croatian island in the central Adriatic, south of Split, the largest island of Dalmatia. It is famous for its white limestone, quarried since Roman times and used in Diocletian's Palace in Split. In the early Middle Ages it belonged to the Narentines of Pagania; it later passed between Croatia-Hungary and Venice, which ruled it from 1420 to 1797.
