Brandenburg Concertos

1721 · 18th century

The Brandenburg Concertos are six instrumental works by Johann Sebastian Bach, among the best-known compositions of the baroque. Bach probably wrote most of them while he was Kapellmeister at the court of Köthen, and in 1721 he presented a fair copy to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandenburg, from whom they take their name. Each concerto uses a different combination of solo instruments.
