Bushido

Bushido, meaning "the way of the warrior", is the code of conduct and ethics associated with the Japanese samurai, stressing loyalty, honour, discipline and martial skill. It was codified largely during the peaceful Edo period. Under the Tokugawa Shogunate it reflected the increasingly ritual and aesthetic rather than practical character of samurai military culture.
