Butambala
Butambala is a county of the Kingdom of Buganda in central Uganda, west of Kampala. Absorbed by Buganda during its expansion from the seventeenth century, it was long part of Mpigi District and became a district of its own in 2010. Its chieftaincy was held by Muslim chiefs for much of the colonial period, and it has a large Muslim community.
