Kampala
Kampala is the capital and largest city of Uganda, near the northern shore of Lake Victoria. It grew around Mengo, the capital of the kabakas of Buganda, and the hill of Old Kampala, where Frederick Lugard built a fort for the Imperial British East Africa Company in 1890. It replaced Entebbe as the capital at independence in 1962 and is the seat of Buganda's royal palace and parliament.
