Calchaquí Wars
The Calchaquí Wars were a series of risings by the Diaguita peoples of the Calchaquí valleys in north-western Argentina against Spanish rule between 1560 and 1667. The largest, in 1630–1643 and 1658–1659, the latter led by the adventurer Pedro Bohórquez, who claimed Inca descent, were crushed, and the Spanish deported whole communities, including the Quilmes, far from their homeland.
