Argentina
Argentina is a country in southern South America that emerged from the Spanish viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. In the nineteenth century it was a rival of the Brazilian Empire for influence in the Río de la Plata region, notably in the Cisplatine War, and later an ally in the Paraguayan War. Its economy was closely tied to British investment and trade.
