Cisplatine War
The Cisplatine War was fought from 1825 to 1828 between the Brazilian Empire and the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata over the Cisplatine Province, present-day Uruguay. The war was costly and unpopular in Brazil. It ended with British mediation and the independence of Uruguay, a blow to the prestige of Emperor Pedro I.
