Çankırı
Çankırı is a city in northern central Turkey. In antiquity, as Gangra, it was the inland seat of the kings of Paphlagonia and later a Roman city renamed Germanicopolis. The Council of Gangra was held there in about 340. It passed to the Seljuk Turks after 1071 and became an Ottoman provincial centre, known for its rock salt mines.
