Cannes

Cannes is a city on the French Riviera, in the department of Alpes-Maritimes. In antiquity the area belonged to the Ligurian Oxybii, and in the Middle Ages it was a fishing village under the monks of the nearby Lérins Islands. It became a fashionable resort in the 19th century and has hosted the Cannes Film Festival since 1946.
