Canu Heledd

Also known as Heledd poems

The Canu Heledd is a cycle of early Welsh englyn poems, probably composed in the 9th or 10th century, in which the princess Heledd laments the death of her brother Cynddylan and the destruction of his court and lands by the English. The poems, including 'Stafell Gynddylan' on his empty hall, are the main source for the kingdom of Pengwern and among the finest early Welsh verse.
