Carl Ulrich

1853–1933 · 20th century

Carl Ulrich was a German Social Democratic politician from Offenbach. After the revolution of 1918 he became the first President of the People's State of Hesse, governing from Darmstadt until 1928 at the head of Weimar coalition governments. He is regarded as the founder of democratic government in Hesse.
