Catugnatus

fl. 61 BCE · 1st century BCE

Catugnatus was a leader of the Allobroges, a Gallic people of the Rhône valley, who led their revolt against Rome in 62–61 BCE. The rising followed Roman neglect of the tribe's complaints about debts and misgovernment. The governor Gaius Pomptinus crushed the Allobroges, and Catugnatus is known only from the account of Cassius Dio.
