Catuvolcus

d. 53 BCE · 1st century BCE

Catuvolcus was an elderly king of the Eburones in northern Gaul who shared rule with Ambiorix. He joined the rising of 54 BCE that destroyed a Roman force at Atuatuca. When Julius Caesar returned in 53 BCE to punish the Eburones, Catuvolcus, too old to fight or flee, cursed Ambiorix for the revolt and poisoned himself with yew.
