Celle
Celle is a town on the Aller in Lower Saxony, Germany, on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath. From the late 14th century it was the residence of the Guelph dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg ruling the Principality of Lüneburg, whose palace still stands. When the last duke, George William, died in 1705 it passed to the Electorate of Hanover; its old town keeps hundreds of half-timbered houses.
