Charles Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach

1736–1806 · 18th century

Charles Alexander was the last Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach, from 1757, who also inherited Brandenburg-Bayreuth in 1769. Like his predecessors he hired out soldiers to Britain during the American war. In 1791 he gave up both principalities to his Prussian cousins in return for a pension and retired to England.
