Bayreuth

Bayreuth is a town in Upper Franconia, northern Bavaria, Germany. Under the Franconian Hohenzollerns it became in the early 17th century the residence of the margraves of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, thereafter called Brandenburg-Bayreuth, whose court built the Margravial Opera House, now a World Heritage Site. Since 1876 it has hosted the Bayreuth Festival of Richard Wagner's operas.
