Charroux
Charroux is a village in the Vienne department of western France that grew around a Benedictine abbey founded in the late 8th century and renowned for its relics. A church council held there in 989 issued the first known decrees of the Peace of God. In the 10th century its lords, beginning with Boso the Old, became counts of La Marche.
