Chersicrates

8th century BCE · 8th century BCE

Chersicrates was a member of the Bacchiad ruling clan of Corinth who, according to Strabo, led the Corinthian colonists who founded Corcyra on the island of Corfu, traditionally around 733 BCE. Strabo says that Archias, the founder of Syracuse, left him with part of his expedition to settle the island, from which Chersicrates drove out the Liburnians who held it.
