Cohen Plan

1937 · 20th century

The Cohen Plan was a forged document, presented as a communist plan to seize power in Brazil, that the government of Getúlio Vargas made public in September 1937. Written by the Integralist officer Olímpio Mourão Filho, it was used to justify a state of war and the coup of 10 November 1937 that created the authoritarian Estado Novo. Its fraudulent nature was admitted in 1945.
