Constitutionalist Revolution
The Constitutionalist Revolution was an armed uprising of the state of São Paulo against the provisional government of Getúlio Vargas, fought from July to October 1932. The rebels demanded elections and a new constitution after Vargas had seized power in 1930 and appointed federal interventors to run the states. They were defeated militarily, but Vargas called a constituent assembly, and a new constitution was adopted in 1934.
