Cork
Cork is the second-largest city in Ireland, on the River Lee in the south of the country. It grew from a monastery founded by Saint Finbarr in the 6th or 7th century and a later Viking settlement, and became the seat of the MacCarthy kings of Desmond before falling to the Normans in 1177. It is the main city of the province of Munster.
