Coromandel Coast

Also known as Coromandel

The Coromandel Coast is the southeastern coast of the Indian subcontinent, along the Bay of Bengal. It was a major centre of textile production and trade. The Dutch Empire maintained trading posts there, which Britain seized after French revolutionary armies occupied the Netherlands in 1795.
