Creoda of Mercia

6th century · 6th century

Creoda is named in Anglo-Saxon royal genealogies as an early king of Mercia, a great-grandson of Icel, the father of Pybba and the grandfather of Penda. Later chronicles place his reign in the late 6th century, around 585 to 593, but no contemporary record survives, and he is regarded as a semi-legendary figure.
