Crispo family

1383–1566 · 14th century · Also known as House of Crispo

The Crispo family were the second dynasty of the Duchy of the Archipelago, the Latin state centred on Naxos in the Aegean. Francesco I Crispo seized the duchy in 1383 from the last of the Sanudo line, and his descendants ruled it, mostly under Venetian protection and later as Ottoman tributaries, until Selim II deposed Giacomo IV Crispo in 1566.
