Crotone

Crotone is a city on the Ionian coast of Calabria, southern Italy, on the site of the Greek colony of Croton, founded around 710 BCE. Ancient Croton was famed for its athletes, such as the wrestler Milo, for its physicians and as the home of Pythagoras and his community. A Roman colony was founded there in 194 BCE; it is now a provincial capital.
