Crowfoot

c. 1830–1890 · 19th century · Also known as Isapo-Muxika

Crowfoot was a chief of the Siksika, one of the Blackfoot peoples of the northern plains. A noted warrior, he became a leading advocate of peace with the Canadian government as the bison disappeared, and he signed Treaty 7 in 1877, which ceded much of southern Alberta. He kept the Blackfoot out of the North-West Rebellion of 1885.
