Fur trade

Also known as furs

The fur trade was the commerce in animal pelts, highly valued for clothing and as luxury goods. Furs from the northern forests passed through the Khazar Khaganate and the Black Sea to the Byzantine Empire, financed Russian Empire expansion across Siberia, and were central to New France, the core of the early French Empire in North America.
