Cruithne (legendary king)

Cruithne is the legendary father of the Picts in medieval Irish and Pictish origin legends. His seven sons, Fib, Fidach, Fotla, Fortrenn, Cait, Ce and Circinn, were said to have given their names to the seven provinces of Pictland. The legend, preserved in the Pictish Chronicle and Irish texts, reflects later ideas about Pictish territorial divisions rather than history.
