Daingean
Daingean is a village in County Offaly in the Irish midlands, once the chief stronghold of the O'Connor Faly lords. After the English took it in the 1540s, it was renamed Philipstown in 1556 after Philip II, husband of Mary I, and became the county town of the new King's County. It lost that role to Tullamore in the 19th century.
