Damaras
The Damaras were a class of landholding gentry in medieval Kashmir who rose to power in the 11th and 12th centuries, controlling rural estates and armed retainers. Their rebellions and feuds with the kings of the Lohara dynasty, described at length in Kalhana's Rajatarangini, weakened royal authority before the Shah Mir dynasty took power in 1339.
